A DIY unicorn ornament craft is a great way to have togetherness and family time at Christmas. It all goes back to the First Christmas that was all about staying together. God planned that day all around family and friends. Mary and Joseph bringing Baby Jesus into the world and becoming a family of three (one of God’s favorite numbers). Friends in the form of Wise Men and animals visited, as well! This Christmas shouldn’t be any different than the first, spending time with members of your immediate family and friends. What better way to spend time with those loved ones than to create memories that you can pull out year after year and place on the family tree?! This time of year makes everyone a somewhat crafty but this crazy year has made everyone want a little extra fun to make it through to 2021. So I thought I’d create a little how to for kids and adults alike with this DIY unicorn ornament craft.
Ornaments are always fun to make and are typically quite simple. This ornament doesn’t stray from those typical aspects but it might make the non-glitter lover shy. The supplies you’ll need are easy to find and if you have young children you may already have many of them on hand. You can find the supply list here. Without further ado let’s spread a little glittery magic on our Christmas trees!
First of all, be sure that your clear ornament is clean and dry so the glitter will stick properly. Now it’s time to get messy and sticky, if you’re not careful. I typically use a baster to pour in the polycrylic to avoid spills. Roll the polycrylic around inside the ornament until it coats every space inside. When you’ve coated everything pour your excess back into your container. Let the ornament sit and continue to drain on a styrofoam plate or cup until it stops running out.

Next, it’s time for the shimmer and shine! The glitter is always my favorite! You can use a funnel to pour the glitter in and if you don’t have one make one. Paper and tape is all you need. It’s perfectly fine to be liberal with your glitter pouring skills! Turn your ornament until all spots are coated with glitter and it shines like diamonds! Dump the excess back into your container because wasting sparkles is not allowed 🙂 Waiting for the ornament to dry is next and it will make children antsy so go bake some Christmas cookies or make a snow angel.

Now that our gorgeous glitter ornament is dry, it’s time to decorate it! We start with the eyelashes and if you don’t have vinyl cutouts or stickers you can always paint them on with a paint pen or use a sharpie.

I usually add paper flowers and sometimes hair. Don’t forget the most important part!

When all the pieces of this puzzle are put together and glued the outcome is glittery perfection!!!! The finished product looks expensive like you worked all day to complete it. It will be the ornament exchange hit! Everyone will want you to trade with them or they’ll want your secrets. I hope this
