Humble Beginnings: How my initial signs started!

Have you ever meandered through an antique store looking at old relics? Did you ever wonder how the object come to exist? This post is to describe just how it all started and the magnificence of starting small.

All companies start somewhere and go through difficuIties. I had really hit a downturn in my sign/craft business and didn’t seem to be gaining traction. I knew I needed a sign that would get attention and attract customers, but for the life of me, I didn’t know what it could be. Then God seen fit that I run across a post on Facebook from a friend. She was requesting help with a personalized sign and wanted to order from a local crafter. I commented and the round initial sign was born. You can see more examples in the Krafty Shop or my Etsy shop.

The Original Sign

Round cream colored sign with the initial H routed out along with the name Hyden.

Then I created the original sign! It felt like it took forever to complete. I designed it on my computer and then cut a stencil out in pieces, because it was so large. The sign was 24″(2 feet) round to be exact. I had to tape the stencil together so I could trace it onto the wood for my husband to cut. He cut the solid circle out using a circle jig. Next was the fun intricate curls of the H. He cut those with a router.

God Leads

I would have never dreamed that this one sign would be the catalyst that my business needed for growth. But OH How It Was!!! With the popularity of this sign I got a little braver in what I expected from myself and what I wanted from my customers. I began to step out of my comfort zone and comment on posts where people were looking for certain items and I began running ads for my business on Facebook. That first ad didn’t garner a lot of attention but it got me 2 SALES! I know that doesn’t sound like a lot of sales and it honestly wasn’t but my ad was noticed and I got 2 sales! When you go from rock bottom to placing ads and getting sales, even if it is just two, trust me it’s a win in the business world!

From here to venturing out by turning my personal Pinterest and Instagram accounts into business accounts, revamping my Etsy account, building my website, and starting my blog! I couldn’t be more thrilled by the direction my business has taken over the last year during this crazy pandemic. I along with my business have gotten closer to God and embraced His complete All Knowing Nature and given Him the reins to Krafty Koncessions.

Humble Beginnings

Through my years in business, whether it be a season of drought or bustling times I’ve learned to enjoy the natural sway of the ebbs and flows. I have come to understand that during the slow times I can learn and grow my craft and during the busy times I need to work extra hard. A new appreciation for the age old descriptive statement of “Do Not Despise Humble Beginnings” was definitely developed in me. I truly don’t believe I fully understood the gravity of this statement until this very moment when I realized where Christ has brought me from. If you garner anything from my ramblings in this post I hope it’s to put your trust and faith in the Living God and KNOW that He cares for all His children! He has a plan for you and me and never doubt your humble beginnings!
